Utilization of Saman leaf as feed ingredient in dairy Heifer ration

Chemical composition value were evaluated in saman leaf, leucaena leaf, bermese ebony leaf and teak leaf. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance in Completely randomized design and the mean values compared Duncan's new multiple range test. The results showed that CP content of saman leaf, leucaena leaf, bermese ebony leaf and teak leaf are 20.29, 13.73, 7.44 and 5.67 percent respectively. Type of plants consideration showed that saman leaf had the highest (P0.05) protein. NDF and ADF content in bermese ebony leaf had the highest (P0.05). Leucaena leaf had the lowest (P0.05) NDF and ADF. Four dairy heifers cattle (average BW 300 kg., 18-24 month age) were given 0, 25, 50 and 75 percent saman leaf in concentrate diet (20 percent CP) in 4x4 Latin square design. Second group of cattle (25 percent saman leaf) had similar (P0.05) AGD, body lenght, body height gained and FCR with control group of cattle (0 percent saman leaf). Third and fourth group of cattle (50 and 70 percent saman leaf) had lowest (P0.05) this value. Because had lower concentrate intake. Increasing this performance by induce of concentrate intake is high.
