Simulation of drying ear maize under ambient air ventilation
1992
Harada, Mitsuhisa (Japan International Cooperation Agency (Japan). Maize Quality Improvement Research Centre Project)
Simulation of ear maize drying was conducted. Kernel and cob of ear maize were divided into five layers. It was supposed that drying took place only from the surface layer of kernel and cob, and that drying rate was in proportion with both equilibrium vapor pressure and difference between equilibrium vapor pressure and ambient vapor pressure. There was a time rug between actual drying rate and estimated drying rate. However, this model could well explain the drying rate of ear maize and that ear maize start absorption of moisture even moisture content is higher than equilibrium moisture content.
