Several types of modified corn cribs were tested to evaluate their effect, three small air ducts from opposite direction, a hollow with chimney and one large horizontal penetrating air duct. The hollow and the horizontal air duct could control aflatoxin contamination. In hollow modification, drying rate was not increased, however aflatoxin contamination was controlled to some extent. And in the large air duct modification, drying rate during storage was improves. Moisture content of the modified storage with the large duct decreased from 26.3 to 13.3 percent after 42 days storage. While that of the control decreased from 27 to 15.2 percent after 44 days. Effect of modification did not seem to be decided by size of modification, but by thickness of ear maize layers remained in the cribs.
