Application of a mathematical model for water quality management in the natural water course
1999
Mathematical model study was concentrated on the surface water quality management in the area of Mae Moh, Changwat Lampang and covered the area of about 150 square kilometers. The sutdy was using two modules of the mathematical model Hydrodynamic model (HD model) and Transport Dispersion model (TD model) The second area covered upper and lower Maeklong River started from the Vajiralongkorn Dam, Amphoe Thamuang, Changwat Kanchanaburi to Tambon Chedsamien, Amphoe Photharam, Changwat Ratchburi and from the same station to the mouth of the river at Amphoe Muang, Changwat Samut Songkram. These sections of the river were using three modules of the mathematical model HD model, TD model and Water Quality model (WQ model). The purposed of using these modules were to analyze and simulate the gydrologic characteristics, dispersion characteristics and water quality of each study area. During the studying period, field survey and majer parameters were analyzed to calibrate and verify the mathematical simulation results. The results of the study shown that in Mae Moh area there are some environmental effects from the mining and power plant operation. Maeklong river both upper and lower reaches, the result of the mathematical simulation is similar to the Department of Pollution Control announcements. The results also show that in some areas such as major municipalities along the river need waste water treatment plant to reduce the pollution load in the river.
