Passport data (field collected information) on 711 rice varieties gathered from three ecological area: Northwestern, northeasetern and red river delta of Vietnam were analyzed. The distiribution of traditional rice varieties on the tophography, soil texture and cultural type were determinated. Survey the distribution of local rice varieties is done in order to increase the effective utilization of rice genetic resources
