Determination of suitability of annual spring legume forage crops for production of green forage under the condition of Central Balkan Mountains

The comparative testing of annual spring legume forage crops conducted under the conditions of Central Balkan Mountains distinguished three groups. First group high productive and suitable for the conditions of these study. yhis group included only white lupine, which showed high and stable yields in all 3 years of study, being on average for the period by 98.0 % abouve the control. Second group productive and suitable for the conditions of the studied region. In included horse bean and spring vetch. On average for the three-year period, they were higher yielding by 39.3 % and 10.4 % respectively. Third group low-productive and unsuitable for the region. Soybean, biter vetch and chicking vetch proved to be such. Their yields were unsatisfactory and rather lower than that of the control treatment. At the time of harvesting, the plants of spring forage pea were the highest followed by spring vetch and white lupine. The obtained dry mass was mainl y formed from the plant stems and leaves. In vetch, white lupine and horse bean the stem participation was 51.23 % to 55.96 % respectively. The leaf mass was prevailing at the time of harvesting of soybean and bitler vetch.
