Tendsncies in the changes of linear type traits of Brown cattle in Bulgaria

The aim of the present study was to determine the tendencies in the change of linear type traits of the Brown cattle during the last 15 years. The object of this study were 18 linear traits on the scale from 1 to 50, which were completed with three new traits: balance of the udder, thickness of teats and muscle development of cows. The cows selected in the 90s in Bulgaria were influenced by the model of the original Brown cattle in Switzerland. As a result of functionnning of the linear system a positive change was observed for the traits attachment of the fore udder, furrow, udder depth heighat and wich of rear udder. Taking into account the economical importance of traits - rear legs- side view, hoof angle, udder balance, teat base, depth andlength of teats, it become important thesse traits have have higher importance in preparation of the breding programes.
