2005
Lanauskas, J.(Lithuanian Inst. of Horticulture, Babtai (Lithuania))
In 1999-2004 at the Lithuanian Institute of Horticulture the following clonal rootstocks for sour cherry "Vytenu Zvaigzde" were evaluated: Z1, PN (both Prunus cerasus), P3 and P7 (both P.padus x (P.cerasus x P.avium)). P.mahaleb seedlings served as a control. The soil in the experiment plot was Epicalcari - Endohypogleyic cambisol, clay loam. The most vigorous trees were on rootstock P7. At the end of 6 year of growth their trunk diameter achieved 87mm. With the rest of tested rootstocks it was 81-82mm. Tree yield, productivity, average fruit weight and fruit soluble solid content were not significantly influenced by rootstock. The most suckering rootstocks were P3 and P7. The highest tree mortality was on rootstocks P7 and PN. None of the tested rootstocks showed better results than the standard one (P.mahaleb seedling)
