In this paper, the conditions of eight constructed water reservoirs in Serbia (the Vrutci, Gruza, Bovan, Celije, Zlatibor, Garasi, Grliste and Parmenac Water Reservoirs) are analyzed, as well as the maintenance of their structures and management. An attempt is made to define necessary monitoring that would be used for the future planning of works on rational functioning of all existing structures. Each of the analyzed structures represents a sample according to various criteria (size, type, time of construction, purpose, designer) of the dams and water reservoirs on the territory of the Republic of Serbia (without the Provinces), which are in charge of the Serbian Waters Public Water Resources Management Enterprise. The paper is an extract from the Study on Maintenance, Management and Observation of Eight Large Dams. The Jaroslav Cerni Institute for Development of Water Resources in cooperation with the Energoproject - Hydroengineering Company made this study during 2005-2006.
