Seed germination and growth of pepper in the presence of liquid waste from Toplica river [Serbia]

The research on germination of pepper seed and growth of plant organs (root, stem and leaves) under the influence of liquid waste from Toplica river was conducted under strictly controlled conditions. It was found that all liquid waste samples taken from Toplica river inhibit the germination of the seed. On the other hand, some samples of liquid waste such as Hisar stimulate the growth of plant organs and promote augmetation of biomass. Based upon these findings we have concluded that the waters of river Toplica river are polluted and they can be not used for drinking or irrigation of the vegetable cultures.
