The spring malting barley varieties Bojos, Class, Radegast, Sebastian and Timori and the winter barley varieties Campill, Nives and Premuda were registered in the Czech Republic in 2005. All the varieties were tested for their agronomic characters and malting quality. The varieties Bojos and Radegast were very suitable for the production of Czech beer as they showed low apparent final attenuation. The varieties Class and Sebastian with very good malting quality had high content of extract and very good fermentation. The advantage of the variety Timori was a low level of lipoxygenase.
