Characterizing the biological activity of viable yeast on the basis of oxygen consumption in rumen fluid
2006
Brydl, E | Konyves, L. | Jurkovich, V. | Kutasi, J.
In order for a Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain to qualify as a feed additive with optimal biological availability for ruminants it must be viable, able to proliferate in the rumen, it should buffer the pH of the ruminal fluid, reduce the oxygen concentration in the rumen, and provide a source of nutrients to numerous microbes living in the rumen.
