English. The common oak-ash wood forest of Motovun (Istria, Croatia) was investigated to characterize the soil environment for white truffle (Tuber magnatum). The comparison between soils proved the need of white truffle for a well drained and alcaline soil that must be neither too dry nor periodically saturated by water. In the Motovun forest, instead, a decrease of production took place in combination with the last 40-years modifications of the hydraulic equilibria of the valley bottom
Show more [+] Less [-]Italian. [E´ stata studiata la foresta a farnia-ontano di Motovun (Istria, Croazia) per caratterizzare l'ambiente del suolo per il tartufo bianco (Tuber magnatum). IL confronto fra suoli ha dimostrato che il tartufo bianco esige suoli alcalini e ben drenati, che non devono essere né troppo asciutti, né periodicamente saturi di acqua. Nella foresta di Motovun, al contrario, la diminuzione della produzione si è verificata in seguito alle modifiche degli equilibri idraulici nel fondo valle verificatisi negli ultimi 40 anni.]
