Effects of calcium cyannmide (CaCN2) and brassinolide (BR) on the budbreak, and abscisic acid (ABA) and indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) contents of grapevine buds were investigated. CaCN2 stimulated budbreak of grapevine and BR alone did not induce budbreak, but CaCN2 plus BR stimulated more rapid budbreak than CaCN2 alone. After pruning and defolation, endogenous ABA content in bubs declined and IAA content increased. CaCN2 and/or BR increased ABA and IAA contents, while in untreated buds did no change. These results showed that ; 1) BR may have a synergistic effect along with CaCN2 on the budbreak of grapevines, 2) BR and/or CaCN2 effect(s) on endogenous ABA and IAA levels of buds.
