Equations for estimating TDN content of paddy rice silage were evaluated using 8 samples whose dry matter digestibility and TDN content were known with cattle. Among the equations reported in the literature, TDN = -5.45 + 0.89 x (OCC + Oa)+ 0.45 x OCW showed highest predictive ability (R2 = 0.627). Neither in vitro dry matter degradation rate nor in situ degradation rate showed a significant correlation with the known in vivo digestibility, for any durations of incubation. Using data sets from the study, an equation TDN = 54.297 + 1.205 x Oa - 0.l09 x Ob - 0.462 x CA (R2 = 0.725, RSD = 1.83) was obtained.
