Effects of nitrogen application on grain yield, quality and protein content in rice cultivar 'Akitakomachi'
2004
Toriu, S.(Ehime-ken. Agricultural Experiment Station, Matsuyama (Japan)) | Kimura, H.
This experiment was conducted to determine effects of nitrogen application on grain yield, quality and protein content in rice cultivar "Akitakomachi" grown in early and normal season culture. Nitrogen fertilizer was applied at the rate of 0.2 to 0.8 kg/a for basal dressing and 0 to 0.4 kg/a for the topdressing at the panicle formation stage. The grain yield and protein content in grain increased with increasing amount of nitrogen application. Grain quality was little affected by nitrogen application. Grain yield was highly affected by basal dressing compared to ear dressing. Protein content in grain was highly affected by ear dressing compared to basal dressing.
