Expedition to northern Gifu prefecture [Japan] for collecting local caltivars of millets

Germ plasms found in the northern mountainous area of Gifu Prefecture were surveyed from 2004 through 2005. Eighteen native cultivars of buckwheat, two of Japanese barnyard millet, three of finger millet, one of common millet, one of foxtail millet, one of sorghum and fifty eight of perilla were collected. These germ plasms are considered to be useful genetic resources for future cereal products.
