The new satsuma mandarin [Citrus unshiu] cultivar 'Himenoka'

'Himenoka' is a new cultivar of Satsuma mandarin, bred from nucellar seedlings of 'Ootsu No.4' pollinated with 'Hamlin' in 1988. This tree is characterized by good tree vigor, with primarily upright growth until the onset of fruit set. The cultivar has a strong tendency to alternate bearing. The average weight of the compressed fruit is approximately 120g. The sugar content rating is more than 13 Brix and acitic acid content is approximately 1% in the beginning of December. It is suitable for the shipment in December.
