In 2003-2004, samples of Blumeria graminis f.sp. hordei in sporulation and cleistothecia phases were collected in the Latgale region of Latvia near Daugavpils. Pathotypes and their complexity were detected. A large number of pathotypes were observed, independently from year of investigation and the stage of life cycle of the pathogen. In the most frequent pathotype virulence genes Va6, Va7, Va9, Va12; Vak and VLa were presented. In 2003, in the phase of cleistothecia new and dangerous pathotype in the population (appeared firstly in 2002) a1 a3 a13 were detected again. Complexity of pathotypes varied from 1 to 12 virulence genes per genotype, although means complexity was approximately 5 virulence genes per genotype.
