On some components of geomatics

The activities of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG), International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) and Eurogeographics are discussed. The integrated science of this branch has obtained name geomatics recently. Many issues of geodesy, surveying, cartography and photogrammetry are included in the curricula of geomatics at the Riga Technical University. The improved study programme for geomatics has been developed by the international team within the frames of GEMLA project. Currently the discussions are going on in the Latvian geosciences community on the place of geomatics in the subdivision of the branches of Latvian science and research. In this article we have tried to expose the importance and wideness of geomatics and its application and research topics.
