[Simuliidosis in Latvia and problems it causes]

Blood-sucker dipterous insect species are widespread in Latvia just as in the world. Black flies are the most evil for animal husbandry, as they mass attack animals and causes simuliidosis and death. It is dangerous for people too. In the article author describes morphology, biology, species distribution and harm of black flies. Also explained in the article pathogenesis, pathology-anatomic and clinical aspects of disease; animal treatment and measures for preventing domestic animal against black flies attack and insect control.
