The estimation of the influence of the way of fertilization on the content of nitrogen in the leaves of apple trees

The aim of the experiment was to estimate the influence of the way of fertilization on the content of nitrogen in the leaves of apple trees. The experiments were conducted in the Experimental Orchard located in Dabrowice on apple cultivars Gala and Jonagold grafted on rootstock M9, during a period of seven years (1993-99). Two kinds of fertilizers were used, one with nitrogen only the other one was a complete fertilizer containing all macronutrients. The results of the experiment showed a significantly higher content of nitrogen in the leaves of the cultivar Gala. The nitrogen content in the leaves Jonagold and Gala was influenced mainly by the age and level of yield of trees and meteorological conditions
