Ultrasonographic study of the ovary's response of ewes after estrus synchronization during breeding season in Bulgarian local breeds

The ovary's response after estrus synchronization in 30 ewes between 1,5 and 4 years old of local Bulgarian ovine breeds Karakachanska and West-Oldmountainous by real-time transrectal ultrasonography was studied. The most active response have been shown the young ewes from West-Oldmountainous breed (1,6 ovulatory follicles per animal against 1 follicle per animal in Karakachanska breed). The biggest number of ovary's cysts was developed (1,4 cysts per animal) in the adult ewes of this breed. In both breeds most frequently the cysts are located in left ovaries.
