Soil fertility maintenance in organic agriculture is based on the provision of naturally running biological and physical and chemical processes in the soil. The incorporation of green manuring crops, the application of compost and other organic fertilizers and amendments, combined with suitable soil cultivation practices are a part of the practices, aimed at achieving this goal. In the present article a review is done of the role of soil microorganisms in achieving optimal nutritional regime in organic agriculture. Soil microflora control for the enhancement of the domination of the beneficial and effective microorganisms could prove out to be a means for the improvement and maintenance of optimal physical and chemical soil properties in organic agriculture.
