[Catadromous salmon fishes of Belarus]

According to standard to categories of the International Union of the Wildlife Management, approved by Advice IUWM on February, 9th, 2000 at 51-st meeting in Gland (2001), and also in view of such criteria as the international and European status of ecological, phylogenetic, historical and cultural aspects, in the third edition of the Red Book of Belarus (2004) a salmon is carried to the highest category of the national nature protection importance-I category, including taxons, having very low or quickly reduced number which rescue is impossible without realization of a complex of special measures. Thus it is necessary to note, that if the Vilija river in the territory of Lithuania is regulated by hydraulic engineering constructions, not providing an opportunity of passage through them raising fishes on spawning salmon will disappear from the fauna of Belarus
