Effects of various levels of sunflower meal and enzymatic preparations in diets for porkers on fattening results

Due to its high protein content, sunflower meal could be successfully substituted for soybean meal. However, in case of monogastric animals the use of sunflower meal is limited by a differentiated and often too high level of crude fiber. In the experiment, performed on 228 porkers, at the first stage of fattening (PT-1) part of soybean meal in the experimental diets was replaced with sunflower meal, in the amount of 8% (diet II) and 15% (diets III and IV). At the second stage of fattening (PT-2), diet II contained 8% of sunflower meal, whereas in diets III and IV 14,4% of sunfloer meal was substituted for all soybean meal. At both stages of fattening diet IV was supplemented with enzymatic preparations - Endofeed plus and Enargex. The production results obtained at both stages of fattening (PT-1 and PT-2) indicated a minor negative effect or no effect of partial or total substitution of sunflower meal for soybean meal. This shows that sunflower meal may be added to diets for porkers in the amount of 8% and about 14% at the first and second stage of fattening respectively
