Rational use of lubricating oils in internal combustion engines has been examined. At present time their service time is too short. The oil poured off from the engine at service time is not quite defective and still has good working physical and chemical properties. Thus engines oil are wasted and operation costs increase. The most promising method of oil change is based on regular control of working oil quality. Oil should only be changed when it really loses its working properties. For control of oil quality the comparatory and magnetic-volume indicators of oil pollution in auto-tractors engines is offered. The working principles of such kind of indicator are described. Recently different plants have been worked out for refinement of working motor oils in the immediate region of crank case, like universal compact plant Minipat. Usage of this plant will allow to reduce the oil over-expenditure for 1,5-2 times. The main directions of efficiency usage increase and expenditure reduction of motor oils in internal combustion engines are offered: method of oil change by its real state based on regular control of working oils quality; increase in service life of oil in internal combustion engines up to its permanent work due to increase of oil refinement quality and additives introduction to it for compensation of out-of-repair part; application of more perfect combined systems of refinement of oil consisting of the filter with a paper filtering element and partial line centrifuge
