El tomate, nuevo hospedante de Pseudomonas cichorii en Cuba.

Spanish; Castilian. A fines del año 1978, se presentó en la empresa 'Ramírez', en Consolación del Sur, provincia de Pinar del Río, una enfermedad que afectó los semilleros de tomate de dicha zona. Los síntomas consistían en manchas oscuras, casi negras y de forma irregular, que aparecían en gran número sobre la superficie foliar. De los tejidos enfermos se aisló una bacteria, que al ser asperjada una suspensión de la misma sobre hojas de tomate de la variedad 'Placero', reprodujo los síntomas iniciales de la afección. De acuerdo con las características morfológicas, culturales, fisiológicas, bioquímicas y de patogenicidad realizadas a nuestros aislamientos, se llegó a identificar la bacteria como Pseudomonas cichorii (Swingle) Stapp, 1928, siendo este el primer reporte de la enfermedad en este cultivo en Cuba.
Show more [+] Less [-]English. Late in 1978 in Consolación del Sur, Pinar del Rio province, a disease was noted affecting tomato nurseries. Symptoms consisted in dark to black irregular in shape spots appearing in great number on foliar surface. An isolate from disease tissue, sprayed on tomato leaves ('Placero' variety) reproduced the initial symptoms of the disease. According to the morphological, cultural, physiological, biochemical and pathogenic characteristics of the isolates tested, the pathogen was identified as Pseudomonas cichorii (Swingle) Stapp 1928.This is the first report of the disease in this crop in Cuba.
