The effect of spacing patters and cultivars on root sucker production of plum trees on Myrobalan rootstocks.

We investigated root sucker production in a plum orchard, established in spring, 1997. We tested four spacing patterns with four cultivars (President, Stanley, Cacanska lepotica, Bluefre) uniformly on Myrobalan C 359 rootstocks (P. cerasifera). Statistically significant variations of root sucker production on identical rootstocks are affected by the cultivar and the spacing pattern.
