Influence of harvesting date on forage quality and yield in Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam. ssp. alternativum) | Incidencia del momento de aprovechamiento sobre la calidad y la producción del raigrás italiano alternativo (Lolium multiflorum Lam. ssp. alternativum)

La influencia del momento de aprovechamiento del tercer corte del raigrás italiano alternativo (Lolium multiflorum Lam. ssp. alternativum) sobre la calidad y la producción fue evaluada durante los años 1999 y 2000, en la localidad de Monells (Girona). Se establecieron varios momentos de corte en función de la fecha del inicio de espigado. En el año 1999 hubo cuatro fechas de corte: a inicio de espigado, 7, 14 y 21 días después de éste; y en el año 2000, se realizaron seis aprovechamientos: 14 y 7 días antes de inicio de espigado, a inicio de espigado, 7, 14 y 21 después de éste. Se ha observado un incremento significativo de la producción de materia seca, apreciándose unos incrementos superiores a 94 kg/día al retrasar el momento de corte. Se han determinado para cada fecha de aprovechamiento el contenido en PB, FND y LAD. Al retrasar el momento de aprovechamiento se ha observado una disminución significativa de la PB y aumento significativo de la FND y LAD. Las UFL han disminuido significativamente como mínimo a 0,0032 UFL kg/día a medida que ha avanzado la fecha de corte. La DMO ha presentado una disminución significativa mínima 0,629% DMO/día a medida que el raigrás avanza en su estado morfológico.

Two trials studying the influence of harvesting date on forage quality and yield in italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam. ssp. alternativum) were carried out in 1999 and 2000, at Monells (Girona). Crop was harvested at different days depending on the date of beginning head satge. Four cuts in 1999: beginning head, 7, 14 and 21 days after it; and six cuts in the 2000: 14 and 7 days before, 7, 14 and 21 days after. A significant increase on dry matter yield was observed (94 kg/day) when the cut was delayed. PB, FND and LAD content were determined for each cutting date. A significant reduction of PB and a increase of FND and LAD were observed from early to late vegetative stage. UFL and DMO has decreased, with a reduction of 0,0032 UFL kg/day and 0,629% DMO/day, respectively.
