In order to study of preliminary evaluation of drought tolerance in seedling of five almond cultivars, an experiment was conducted in split plots based on randomized complete designs(RCD)with three replications in Chahartakhteh station of Agricultural and Natural Recourses Research Center of Chaharmahal Va Bakhtiari Province.Main plots including of four irrigation periods based on 20,40,60 and 80 mm evaporation from surface of Class A Pan Evaporation and subplots including of almond seedling of Mamaei, Rabie, Safied, Shahrood 12 and Shahrood 21 cultivars. Seedling of these cultivars were sowed in nylon bags at fall to receive enough natural chilling. About two month after germination and growth, the uniform seedlings from stem diameter and plant length viewpoint were selected and planted in plastic pots(30×40 cm)contained soil + manure +sand(2:1:1)mixture and were treated with different irrigation periods for 140 days. The results showed that increasing irrigation periods had very significant effect(1% level)on reduction of plant length, stem diameter, number of internods and branches, leaf area, fresh and dry weight of shoot and root but length internods and ratio of shoot to root dry weight(Shoot/Root D.W)were not significantly decreased. Cultivars had significant different in plant length, stem diameter, fresh and dry weight of shoot and root at 1% level. Also, cultivars had significant different in leaf area and internod numbers at 5% level. The interactions of irrigation periods and cultivars were only significant in stem diameter. The relative leaf water contents decreased significantly with increasing irrigation periods. The cultivars had different in leaf relative water content but the interactions of irrigation periods and cultivars were not significant. With increasing of irrigation periods increased significantly of N and K in root and K in leaf. The irrigation periods were not significant on Ca,P and Mg in leaf and root and also on K in root. The interactions of irrigation periods and cultivars were not significant on mineral elements in leaf and root of almond cultivars. According to results, the almond cultivars were not significantly difference under irrigation periods.
