Effects of presprouting on yield of potato cultivars in winter planting.

In order to study the effects of presprouting on yield of potato cultivars an expriment was conducted for three years from1999to2002 at Behbahan Agriculture Research Station. A split plot expriment in randomized complete block design with four replications was used.Cultivar considerd as main factor had three levels: Ilona , Piccaso and Marfona.Kind of seed tuber considerd as sub factor had two levels :germinated and not germinated. Pregerminated was achived by placeing the tuber seeds in woody traies(one or two layers)and exposure to required light and temperature of 15 –20ْ C for one month. Seed tubers were planted in mid January and harvested in mid May.In the end of each year simple analysis of variance was done. Combined analysis of varince was carried out in the third year and results indicated that effects of cultivar and kind of tuber seed on tuber yield was significat at 1% level, but interaction between cultivar and kind of tuber seed was not significant.Comparision among means showed that tuber yield of Ilona cultivar (28.51t/ha)was higher than two other cultivars at 1% level . Presprouting led to significantly increase tuber yield, stem number and tuber number per plant . According to obtained results planting of pregerminated seed tubers of Ilona cultiva is recommended for winter potato planting in khouzestan province.
