Identification of physiological races of sunflower rust,Puccinia helianthi, in Iran and resistance of the host germplasm to the disease

farms with rust infection background were considered in Khoy station(with mist system) and Golidaghthus the genotypes were evaluated in these areas. The evaluations under controlled conditions, were done by powdering method with Talc powder and rust urediospors(race 2) mixture. On the basis of these methods, 489 and 137 sunflower genetic materials were evaluated respectively in field and controlled conditions. Ther were 138 and 76 highly resistant materials in Golidagh and Khoy areas respectively. Also 2 immune and 36 highly resistant genotypes were identified among the germplasm which was evaluated under controlled conditions.
