Hazelnut is one of the oldest nut Crops that is Important as food and drug . Hazelnu is cultivated in more than 20 contries . Iran is one of the most ( 6 th ) producers in thd world . This research has been done to evaluate qulitative and Qunutitative characteristics of 25 collected varieties during 1381-83 in kamalshahr Research station . 4 trees from each variety were studied and some characteristics such as date of catking and female flowers appearance , pollen ripenning and pollen shedding , appearance of stigma , type of flowering , leaf morphology , date of leaf abscision , browning of leaf margin ,date of harvesting and fruit characteristics ( length , diameter , weight , protein and oil content of kernel ) were observed and hoted. Results showed that catkings appear in Tir 25 to shahrivar and nut development takes place until Aban . pollen shedding accures from bahman 25 to Esfand 25 . In this study , we found that the varietis are divide in 3 groups : protogyne . protander and Homogame ones . percentage of pollen germination in 15% sacrose and 2% was the best . The number of suckers. It was found that Fertile du cutard has the highest yiels (1.4 Ton /ha0 and the leastyield recorded for Mahalie Karaj(0.2 Ton /ha ). The studies on pollination and fruit setting showed that the most of varieties were cross pollinate and some ones had pollen compatibility so the rate of fruit set in isolated flower has significant differences with open pollinatedones. These differences show the high degree of self fertility of varities based on result of varieties Rasmy and fertil du cortard has the hignest degree of self fertility and varieties Pashmineh and Gerge had the least. It was found that variety Gerdooii is an excellent pollinizer for varities :Fertile, Rasmi , Gerdooii , shastak and Negret. Finally ,among 25 varieties in this exprimen , 9 varieties are compatibleto karaj climate and the nut , have high quantity and quatity in this condition.
