Market of poultry meat and consumers´ preferences in the Osijek-Baranja County [Croatia]

English. Poultry meat is the most consumed type of meat in Croatia. Yearly consumption of poultry meat amounts to 19.3 kg pro-capite. Consumers prefer price-worthy and tasty meat, which is beneficial to their health. This research into the meat market and consumers´ preferences was based on a representative sample of 100 examinees, all residing in the regions of Slavonia and Baranja. Among the poultry meat, the majority of examinees most often buys chicken meat (86%), the rest of them prefers turkey meat (14%). Quality (65%) and price (30%) are the most important factors that influence consumers when buying poultry meat. Almost all consumers prefer to buy poultry meat in its main parts, mostly because of reasonable prices. Even 92% of them decide to buy the most valuable carcass parts (breasts, drumsticks and thighs). I consumatori preferiscono carne a prezzi congrui e gustosa, che sia benefica per la salute. Questa ricerca sul mercato della carne e sulle preferenze dei consumatori è stata basata su un campione rappresentativo di 100 intervistati, tutti residenti nelle regioni di Slavonia e Baranja. Fra le carni avicole, la maggior parte degli intervistati acquista il più delle volte carne di pollo (86%), il resto preferisce la carne di tacchino (14%). La qualità (65%) e il prezzo (30%) sono i fattori più importanti che influenzano i consumatori nell´acquisto di carni avicole. Quasi tutti i consumatori preferiscono acquistare carne di pollo porzionata, soprattutto per i prezzi ragionevoli. Fino al 92% di essi sono orientati all´acquisto delle parti di maggior valore della carcassa (petti e cosce). Nell´area studiata della Contea di Osijek-Baranja la carne avicola viene consumata una volta alla settimana dall´86% degli intervistati.]
