English. The beech forest of Val Cervara, inside the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise, is one of the rare stretches of almost untouched forest still existing in the Central Apennines. A deep knowledge of these ecosystems is required in order to apply selvicultural and management criteria on a natural base. Yield and structural survey has been carried out, aerial photos taken during about 50 years have been analysed and eventual past use traces have been observed with the aim of defining forest structural types: old-growth, uneven-aged and even-aged forest, partially corresponding to a different natural degree
Show more [+] Less [-]Italian. La faggeta di Val Cervara, nel Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise, è uno dei rari lembi di foresta poco alterata ancora presenti sull'Appennino Centrale. La conoscenza approfondita di questi ecosistemi è importante per l'applicazione di criteri di selvicoltura e assestamento su basi naturali. In base ai caratteri dendrometrici e strutturali, all'analisi comparata di fotografie aeree rilevate in un arco di 50 anni e all'osservazione dei segni dell'utilizzo da parte dell'uomo, sono individuate le tipologie strutturali presenti nella faggeta: senescente, disetanea e coetanea, in parte rispondenti a un diverso grado di naturalità
