[Calculation methods of signal transmission in a wireless local area network]
2006
Haze, M.
Mostly WLAN's operate in urban areas where is no direct line of sight path between the transmitter and the receiver. Due to multiple reflections from different objects (walls, furniture etc.), the waves travels along different path which causes multipath fading. Strength of WLAN signal decrease also as the distance between the transmitter and receiver increases. All these aspects complicate estimation of true WLAN coverage. Wall factor model is one of the solutions for these problems.
