The country is rich with natural resources which can be utilized for the production of ethanol. With the present situation of high domestic gasoline demand exceeding supply, high petroleum prices, alcohol trading is profitable to the oil companies and car manufacturers produce alcogas ready cars are factors favorable for the implementation of fuel ethanol program. The emergence of ethanol as a viable alternative fuel has led to some issues and concerns that can affect decisions in the use of ethanol. The successful introduction of fuel ethanol program in the country requires careful planning. Local economic conditions, available resources and potential end-use of both the ethanol and its by-products should be considered together with th technology on the production and use of ethanol. Adapting the system used by other countries like Brazil in terms of alcohol production and utilization should be observed as well as technological advances and settling issues concerning government policy. It is also important to note that based on Brazil's experience, the institutional support of the government determines the success of their alcohol program.
