Soil and leaf nutrient levels as diagnostic tools for crop nutrition and soil management system in selected fruit crops in the Philippines

A baseline field survey (2000-2002) of selected fruit areas in the country was conducted to generate agronomic, soils and crop nutrition data. The mean (considered average normal or adequacy value) and range levels of soil conditions and leaf nutrient levels of 10 selected fruit crops were generated to serve as a guide in research, and extension and advisory services. Including other salient information from relevant local references, and internet sources, a monograph of 10 fruit crops on crop nutrition and fertilization management was developed aimed as a guide in location-specific recommendation of each crop (Rambutan, Durian, Lanzones, Guava, Papaya, Mango, Avocado, Citrus, Mangoosteen, and Banana) applicable under either monocropping or intercropping systems, based on soil and leaf analysis. Practical or farm extension advisories under diverse field conditions of fruit farms with reference to the generated indicative normal or adequacy levels of selected soil properties and leaf nutrient levels of macro- and micro-nutrients (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Cl, Na, B, Zn, Mn,Fe and Cu) are presented and discussed.
