In six field experiments usefulness of Polish cultivars of sweet basil and marjoram for organic cultivation was tested. In the experiments the following traits were investigated: fresh herb yield, dry herb yield, stem content in dry herb, seed yield, 1000 seeds weight and essential oil content. From only one location (Slonsk) yields of herbs excelled these from conventional cultivation. Herbs of basil and marjoram contained the high essential oil content. The obtained results showed that Polish basil cultivar - Kasia and marjoram cultivar - Miraz can be successfully cultivated organically, although the experiments should be continued. From most of experiments the seeds were collected, which help to obtain bigger amounts of organic seeds
