The catchment of the upper Tarasienka river is situated within the northern edge of the Luk Uhorski, which is the most northern part of the Lublin Upland, so this region is a very important physiographic border between lowlands and uplands. This area is characterized by occurrence of deposits typical for upland areas and lowlands. Due to accumulation of younger deposit on the surface, which covered older rocks, characteristic hydrological system has been created. Many shallow interior hollows have been functioning before the sixties of the last century (the period of slight anthropopressure on the outflow structure). As the result of melioration of these areas in the sixties of the last century, courses of the river were connected in one active system of surface outflow network. Liquidation of areas of the small retention caused fastening the outflow and deepending of water deficits in the dry periods
