In the paper the analysis of the possibility of permanent storage of water in dry reservoir on Zloty Potok river in Janoltowek village (Poland) has been presented. Variant calculations of a passage of the flood wave were carried out through reservoir for different initial elevations of water in the reservoir and different combination of openings of the outlets. A historical hydrograph of the flood wave of 1997 was used for computations. The optimum level of the possible permanent storage of the water in the reservoir was assessed on the ordinate of the crest of the upper outlet. So, the reconstructed reservoir, with the maximum usable depths 9 m and surface of 18 ha can be used both to flood protection aims and recreational, energetic purposes of for farming of fish
