In this review paper are presented some actual general problems of animal genetic resources in the Republic of Serbia. The relations between biodiversity, agrodiversity and AnGR are shown, as well as the size of population of autochthonous breeds and the status of endangered breeds. Main activities taken until now regarding preservation of AnGR are stated, as well as the problems that appeared.
