Vegetative potential of red raspberry varieties on heavier soil

The paper presents the results of the vegetative potential and some cane morphological traits of the following seven red raspberry cultivars: Chilcotin, Chilliwack, Comox, Haida, Nootka, Skeena and Willamette. The trial was set on heavier soil (uncarbonated alluvium placed on swampy dark soil). There were some significant differences between the cultivars and the years concerning the studied traits (length, diameter, and shoot production). Chilcotin and Comox varieties demonstrated the highest rates of vegetative propagation capacieties by shoots on heavier soil, while Willamette and Haida varieties showed poorer vegetative potential.
