Amino acid content and protein biological value of red clover, cv. K-9 and white clover, cv. K-33 in phenophases of tillering, bud formating and flowering in the first and the second cut was evaluated. During maturation, changes in amino acid content are minor with no exact trend. For all amino acids (except proline) in examined vegetative period CV interval in red clover was 2.71-15.79% and in white clover 1.99-12.34%. In both analysed cultivars proline had highest variability. Asparagic and glutamic acids make about 25% of all amino acids. Nonessential amino acids content in crude protein is higher than essential amino acids content, white clover contains in average 41.37% of essential amino acids and red clover, 40.09%. First limiting amino acid in both species is methionin+cystine, and second is lysine.
