Effect of teat canal keratin from cows udder on higienic suitability of milk

Milk production is very composite process, influenced by large number of biological as well as economic factors. Numerous conditions must be satisfied, in order to get as much as possible larger amount of quality and hygienically suitable milk. Keratin, a proteinaceous structure at the edge of teat canal in cows, has a significant role in defence of sterile teat cistern from invasion of microorganisms from the environment and it prevents the appearance of mastitis, and by that increase economy of milk production due to lowering concerning the curing of disease mentioned. The aim of this work is to explain the effect of keratin from the teat canal as a protective mechanism of milking cows in defence from infection and possible occurrence of udder infection in cows.
