Golden Delicious and Elstar clones

One of the main disadvantages Golden Delicious has is appearance of russeting especially in flat regions and in regions where early morning dew make a long stay. With Elstar that disadvantage is insufficiently developed over color. Very little has been done about apple clone selection in our country, although it would be necessary to work out clone selection of all main cultivars in our agro ecological conditions. Last years more and more works were done in world about Golden Delicious and Elstar clone selection. Golden Delicious clone selection is mostly directed towards creating clones with less developed russeting, and with Elstar towards more developed over color. Together with Golden Delicious clones such as Clone A, Clone B, Belgolden, Lysgolden, more and more have been expended clones Reinders and Smoothee, and within Elstar group: Red Elstar, Elista, Excellent-Star and others.
