The strawberry plants damage caused by larvae of Coroebus elatus F. and Otiorrhynchus rugosostriatus Goeze is established in the locality Malo Orasje (Serbia) in 2005. C. elatus has one generation and overwinters as a larva in the root. O. rugosostriatus overwinters in different larval instars in the soil. Adults of both species feed on strawberry leaves but without serious damages. The larvae, however, are very harmful. Larva of C. elatus makes spiral galeries throught the root, but O. rugosostriatus larvae feed on the root and also bore into the central part of a root. Infested plants have yellow and wither leaves and than the whole plants died. Control of C. elatus and O. rugosostriatus is possible by removing and destroying infested plants and spontaneous plants of Rosacea. Chemical control can be used only after harvest and in the period of adults activity.
