There are many factors influencing chicken production, and one of mane is feed. Feed additives often include so called growth promoters with beneficial impact on animal production and health via modifications of the intestinal microbiota. Among these growth promoters are probiotics, prebiotics, organic acids and herbs, as well as essential oils. Probiotic supplemented diets have shown positive effects on performance parameters like body weight gain and feed conversion ratio.
