Effect of N fertilizer x inoculation interaction on wheat yields

The objective of this paper is to investigate the influence of N fertilizer x inoculation interaction on wheat yields and yield components. Two year trials were sown in pots under semi-controlled conditions. Pots from trial A were filled with soil from a non-fertilized two-field treatment that formed part from a crop rotation trial established in 1947/1948. Those from trial B were filled with soil from the fertilized two-field portion of the same crop rotation trial. Nitrogen fertilization and inoculation were performed according to the study methodology. In both our trials, N fertilization and inoculation significantly increased wheat yields relative to the non-fertilized treatment. However, the effects of N fertilization and inoculation on wheat yield were much greater in trial A (non-fertilzed two-field treatment) than in trial B (the fertilized version).
